Basalt Middle School
“Daylighting with 50mm LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK”
Part of the Roaring Fork School District, Basalt Middle School was built fifteen years ago in the quaint mountain town of Basalt, CO. The school recently underwent a major renovation, including a new roof and replacement of the multiwall panels in the pyramid skylight, single slope skylights, and front entry canopy.
Partnering with AIA Industries, a custom skylight manufacturer and installer headquartered in Denver, CO, the architectural firm (Division 7 Design, Inc., Grand Junction, CO.) chose to use AmeriLux’s 50mm opal LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK™ to reglaze the school’s skylights. LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK™ 50mm is a 9-wall, inter-connecting sheet system that offers excellent thermal insulation properties, good light transmission and light diffusion properties, and lower solar heat gain.
Thanks to a large in-stock inventory, AmeriLux International was able to provide fast, on-time delivery of the LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK™ panels to the job site; allowing the project to be completed – on time – prior to the 2013 school year starting. According to the crew, the THERMOCLICK™ panels were very easy to work with and install. And, because the panels can be easily fabricated on site, the crew was able to make minor modifications when needed to make everything fit perfectly!
"We were very happy with ease of installation," said Jim Donaldson, President of AIA Industries. "Betty Reed did a great job of leading us to a very energy efficient material for the project. Having the product in stock gave us the fast delivery required to sell the job in the short time frame required. I would say it was a very successful project that met all of the building’s needs."
