Announcing a New AEC Daily Course!

aec_daily_logoAs part of our Distance Learning and Continuing Education programs, AmeriLux International offers a free online educational course through AEC Daily. AEC Daily is an online resource for product and design information. A primary feature of AEC Daily is its online product courses. These courses are self-guided and offer AIA CEUs and other learning credits.

AmeriLux has hosted an AEC Daily course for the past four years. Recently, we had the opportunity to introduce an updated course. Like the previous course, this new course covers all the basics of multiwall polycarbonate and its many uses. In addition to the basics, this new course goes into greater depth on specific daylighting and glazing systems and covers topics such as circadian rhythm, glare reduction, and new product systems. This AEC Daily course is a self-paced, one-hour presentation. Upon completion of the course, there is a short and simple test on the content of the presentation.

It is important to fully understand the benefits of multiwall polycarbonate and how it can best be used. By taking this AmeriLux AEC Daily course, you and your coworkers, business partners, and customers will gain a greater understanding of multiwall polycarbonate and its broad range of uses. And, since this AEC Daily course can be completed at any time, it is easy to fit into a busy schedule.

Stacker Crane System

“Polycarbonate Vertical Wall”

stacker_crane_cA market leader in end-to-end warehouse solutions, Interlake Mecalux, Inc. specializes in the design, manufacture, sales and service, and integration of warehouse management software, advanced automation, and industrial shelving. In operation since the early 1960’s, Interlake Mecalux is an International company with seven manufacturing plants around the world, three here in the U.S.

stacker_crane_bLocated at their Melrose Park, IL facility, the Stacker Crane System is a demo unit designed to show Interlake Mecalux customers the product’s general capabilities. This automated crane system is basically a long, tall, storage system with a crane in the middle that moves material. The unit is also used as a storage archive for all of their company’s files and records. Recently, a 50’ addition was added to the system. With this addition, was a request to find a material to “cover” and enclose the Stacker Crane. The objective of the cover was to prevent dust from their plant from blowing into the racking and ruining their important documents.

Already purchasing LEXAN™ polycarbonate panels from AmeriLux International for the carousels that they manufacture, Interlake Mecalux turned to the AmeriLux A-team for advice on the right polycarbonate product to cover their Stacker Crane System.

stacker_crane_aThe product solution: LEXAN™ THERMOCLEAR™ Plus 8mm clear polycarbonate panels installed with an Aluminum Base & Cap System. Choosing the unique combination of this lightweight yet high strength polycarbonate panel allowed for a “cover design” that required less structural support, saving both time and labor costs. The white aluminum of the Base & Cap Install System provided an aesthetically pleasing contrast to the blue crane.

To ensure the success of this unique project, Interlake Mecalux’s project manager, Joe Yassine, was assisted by AmeriLux’s Customer Service Manager, Betty Reed, and Staff Architect, Tim Fikkert. “The installation was very easy to do,” said Joe. “Betty and Tim were there every step of the way, from the project planning stages through final installation. They used my project drawings to show how the panels would fit against the machine, provided installation instructions, and gave me the knowledge I needed to get the job done right. That is what you want as a customer when you are trying to make something different work for your product or project.”

To learn more about how our polycarbonate panels can be used to create a cost effective, yet custom built structure for you or your customer, please call 888-602-4441. Our highly qualified architectural team would be happy to assist you in turning your project ideas into a reality.
