The Hub at Times Square NYC

“Kiosks Feature Polycarbonate”

Located in the heart of Manhattan, Times Square was the recent home to the latest Hub Culture experience. The temporary installation featured new experiments in mobile design architecture including a virtual reality studio, a creative meeting lounge, and a new form of kiosk.

Modified twenty-foot shipping containers, the mobile design units demonstrated creative ways of integrating repurposed materials. The collection of mobile units were all created with circular economy and cradle-to-cradle initiatives in mind.

The custom-built kiosks were designed using aluminum and LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK™ 40mm opal polycarbonate panels. The benefits of using LEXAN™ THERMOCLICK™ for this type of application are many. The product is light in weight, making it easy to handle and transport. The multiwall x-structure provides high impact strength and breakage resistance. The tongue and groove connection is designed for fast and easy on-site assembly. The inter-connecting system also eliminates the need for vertical profiles, enhancing overall aesthetics.

The 2017 Concept Collection is now in Bermuda at the Hub Culture Innovation Campus and Beach Club at Ariel Sands. The mobile units are serving as hospitality suites and hotel rooms for visiting members.
