Fall removal of leaves, dirt and debris from polycarbonate roofing is important to maintaining high light transmission and extending the lifespan of the panels. Blow leaves off the roof with a leaf blower and rinse with lukewarm water. If additional cleaning is needed, use a mild household detergent and a soft sponge. Rinse with clean water and repeat the process if necessary. Do not scrub panels with a brush.
Avoid cleaning the polycarbonate panels when dry. Sand and dust particles cling to the exterior of the panel and may scratch the surface. (Note: Minor surface scratches will not damage the panel, simply reduce optical clarity.)
Before tackling stubborn stains with any type of abrasive cleaner, call a polycarbonate roofing distributor or manufacturer for advice. Using the wrong cleaning product could damage the panel’s coating, reducing the performance of the polycarbonate roof and void the warranty.
